The black surface of the Solar Balloon once you fill it acts as a solar collector. It heats the air until it expands and is lighter than the surrounding atmosphere causing it to rise like a hotair balloon.
Solar balloons works best in direct sunlight when air temperature is somewhat cool with little wind.
